The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services outlined its strategy intended to improve patient access to high-quality specialty care, aiming to have 100% traditional Medicare beneficiaries and nearly all Medicaid beneficiaries in accountable care relationships by 2030.

After months of Academy advocacy, Medicare administrative contractor WPS has released a finalized coverage policy for cataract surgery that abandons a proposed indication that a patient has a best corrected vision of 20/50 or worse.  

We urged changes to the proposed cataract cost measure specifications, including a call to risk adjust for social determinants of health.
